Magnificent
This surreal painting of a horse galloping through the clouds mixes realism with fantasy. Its movement is unmistakable as it emerges from the mist into open air, mane and tail whipping with streaks of deep blue and maroon against an otherwise soft, ethereal palette.
One of my first paintings involving animals, the horse reflects its environment in both softness and color — its coat catching the same cool blues and warm creams as the clouds it runs through, until it’s almost impossible to tell where the horse ends and the sky begins.
